THE STARS NODDED, THE CREATIVE PROCESS

(Part one). With the upcoming launch of ‘The Stars Nodded’ I wanted to share some odd ends from my visual diary to open a little window into my creative process, a process that begun very early 2020. If you wander through these odd ended snapshots, you’ll see that her hoped launch date was “planned” for October 2020 yet here we are in November 2021 on the cusp of her world entry. I say this to shed light on the ever surrendering movements of process, acknowledging that things birth creatively, only when they are ready. This book was been hugely inspired by my ever growing relationship with movement and dance which I begun to reunite with in our home garage in Palm Beach in early 2020 as a means to shake off some impossible things. I remember clearly this one particular day dancing my heart out and quickly pressing pause on Sedona by Houndmouth and running to find my sketch pad to get the waterfall of words down that were rising mid-dance, before they were forever lost. It was written as a stream of consciousness in rhythmic poetry in a very quick 30 minutes. There was no stopping this wave of moving words. It began and finished like a full bodied dance. I looked back at the words and closed the book. It was written.
